Alex Smith – Still available is almost 50% of leagues, Alex Smith is coming off a 303 yard 3 TD performance against the Buffalo Bills. This week he faces the New York Giants and they allow the 10th most yards and the 14th most fantasy points to QB’s. Eli and the Giants figure to put up at least 24 points, so Alex is going to need to score for the 49er’s to have a chance of winning. With players like Cam and Cutler on bye this week, Smith makes a nice fill in.
Kevin Kolb - This week Kolb faces the Bills and they allow the most fantasy points to QB’s. If Alex smith can throw for 300 and 3 TD’s then Kolb becomes if nothing, serviceable.
William Powell / La’Rod Stephens-Howling and Alfonso Smith – This situation is similar to Green Bay that in when you lose both Beanie Wells and Ryan Williams you have a young promising back in Powell, but a proven pass protector in Stephens-Howling. Again, I’d rather have Stephens-Howling for this situation as the Cardinals O-line can’t block and blitz pick up is vital for this offense to get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald. But, Powell will have a lot of value if this offensive line ever gets its act together.
Waiver RB Priority:
PPR – Starks, Stephens-Howling, Powell and Green.
Standard – Powell, Starks, Green and Stephens-Howling
LeGarrette Blount - Blount is owned in less than 25% of leagues although he scored a TD in his last game going into the bye week. Coach Schiano has recently praised Blount’s practice efforts and unfortunately young Doug Martin has only scored once this year. Blount’s carries have gone up each week while Martin’s have gone down (only 8 in wk 4). This week the Bucs off a bye will be facing the Chiefs and likely Brady Quinn. In a low scoring affair against the Chiefs who afford fantasy RB’s the 10th most points, Blount should be able to carve out about 8 carries plus goal line work.
Kevin Walter – In week 6 the Texans host the Green Bay Packers and their defense is going to be focused on Arian Foster and Andre Johnson. In a game where they are going to have to throw to keep up, Walter becomes a serviceable flex this week. Walter got 6 targets in week 5 against the Jets.
Mario Manningham - We saw in week 5 what happens when a player faces his former team. Robert Meachem woke from his coma and caught two TD’s. This week Manningham faces his old Giants and his role has been pretty consistent of late getting 5 targets in each of his last 3 games. Manningham is sure to get loose for a TD this week, that’s better than an IOU!!
Golden Tate – Tate has scored 3 TD’s in his last 3 games and this week faces the New England Patriots. The Seahawks are going to need their most explosive wide receiver to make plays to keep pace with Brady. The Patriots allow the 7th most fantasy points to WR’s and the second highest total of TD’s to WR’s.
Joel Dreessen – Last week’s TE Flier becomes this week’s TE add if you didn’t listen last week. Dreessen has now scored in his last 3 games and faces the divisional Chargers.
Rob Housler - Last week Housler demonstrated his freakish athleticism and running ability. This week he faces the Bills and they allow the most fantasy points to TE’s. Housler had 6 targets last week and he’s sure to either get that many or do more with them.
