Week 13 Waiver Wire and Flier's

Waiver Wire

QB’s

Caleb Hanie – Traveling out west and throwing for 250 and 2td’s is impressive. Sure there were 3 int’s but considering Forte wasn’t really involved, means a positive vibe has to be applied here; especially considering he is locked in as the starter for the next few weeks. Hanie is a good back up if injury strikes your team.

Kyle Orton – I’d rather have Kyle Orton over Hanie. Orton is inheriting 3 very good receivers. With tasty payback games against Denver and Chicago and free agency at the end of the year combined with Cassel being due a huge off season bonus, Kyle has all the motivation he needs to try and succeed and succeed well. It’s just too bad Jamaal Charles isn’t there anymore.

RB’s

Donald Brown – (on last week’s flier list) Sure one could attribute Donald Brown’s success last week to playing the Carolina Panthers and their woeful run defense; but going into kick off Addai was listed as the starter and yet it was Donald Brown who got running. With Dan Orlovsky being named week 13 starter perhaps he can jump start the offense and if he does, it would be nice to have Donald Brown.

Kregg Lumpkin – See Donald Brown’s intro… Guess who gets Carolina this week? The Tampa Bay Bucs. If you’re looking for a flex play in a deep PPR league; Lumpkin should prove quite serviceable.

WR’s

Riley Cooper / Jason Avant – In that order. Who would have thought that VY would throw for 400 yards? What about Djax getting benched? Well if you saw Djax hesitate to catch those balls in traffic, another benching could be coming. Maclin still isn’t practicing so that is why Cooper is better as he will start opposite Djax, but Avant is clearly serviceable in the slot. If Maclin is out again Cooper is WR3 and Avant WR3 in PPR, he had 8 catches last week.

Johnny Knox – All year we wanted to see more Knox and less Williams. Perhaps Hanie from the bench saw the same thing we all saw. Knox exploded last week against S.D. and that should continue as long as Hanie is on the move and extending plays. Knox has the speed to lose defenders and take it to the house. A plus in return yardage leagues too!

TE

Scott Chandler – With no Fred Jackson, the offense now runs through Fitzpatrick. Although Brad Smith (Flier) is now the starter for Donald Jones leaving David Nelson in the slot, Chandler has proven to be a red zone threat. If you’ve grown frustrated with your tight end, give Chandler a look. Especially in TD only leagues.

Flier’s

Brad Smith – Named starter this week opposite Stevie Johnson. A plus guy in return yardage leagues.

Dan Orlovsky – Named starter this week for the Colts. Maybe he catches fire? He still gets to throw to Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon.
