QB

Joe Flacco

Joe Flacco is the second cheapest starting quarterback, only ahead of Ryan Lindley. Flacco is facing a pretty weak Steelers defense allowing the 4th most passing touchdowns, 7th most passing yards, and 6th most fantasy points quarterbacks this year. The Steelers will be without Le’Veon Bell so they won’t be able to control the clock, so Flacco should get ample opportunities to take the field.

RB

Justin Forsett

I really like the Joe Flacco/Justin Forsett stack this week. In addition to what Flacco brings to the lineup above, is enhanced by the Steelers allowing the 2nd most receptions to running backs over the last 4 weeks. Forsett had hit a mini slump in Week 15 and 16 and that may have some people overlooking Forsett in daily this week, but despite not scoring in Week 17, he did bounce back for 119 yards rushing.

Daniel Herron

I went with Daniel Herron here, because he is the cheapest running back to actually get some decent snaps and he has a good matchup. The Cincinnati Bengals have allowed the 3rd most rushing touchdowns, 3rd most receptions and 6th most points to fantasy running backs this year.

WR

Antonio Brown

There has to be a way to get Antonio Brown in your lineup, in fact he’s probably the first person you enter. He’s scored more fantasy points than any eligible wide receiver this week and he’s still $1,100 cheaper than Calvin Johnson this week. With no Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown is a must start. The floor and ceiling on his potential production are way too high. Set it and forget it.

T.Y. Hilton

T.Y. Hilton is the 5th highest salaried wide receiver this week. He is coming off an injury that he’s been resting and he practiced fully all week, so he should be full go for the first week of the playoffs. When he faced the Bengals earlier this year in Week 7 at home, he had 7 catches for 107 yards, but likely could have had a lot more had the score not been 27-0. I’m in on Hilton this week, while most will be on Dez Bryant near that range, but that $600 savings and having to start Antonio Brown, allows me to still be competitive with my 3rd WR.

Golden Tate

I really wanted a share of the Detroit offense and for only $5,000 I’m getting the 9th most targeted fantasy wide receiver this year at 142 targets for an 8.9 average per game. That kind of action in one of the higher over/under games this week combined with his price makes for a really good WR2 at a WR3 value.

TE

Greg Olsen

Greg Olsen is the highest priced tight end this week, but sometimes you get what you pay for. His matchup couldn’t be any sweeter. This week the Panthers face the Arizona Cardinals who have allowed the 6th most fantasy points to tight ends this year but most importantly THE most receiving yards and the 4th most receptions, to fantasy tight ends.  Additionally Olsen was the 4th most targeted tight end this year at 123 targets for an average of 7.7 per game. Cam Newton should lean on Greg early and often this weekend considering the Cardinals two good corners in Peterson and Cromartie.

K

Dan Bailey

Selecting Dan Bailey this week was a pretty easy choice. He’s in one of the highest over/under for the weekend and most importantly is playing at home and indoors. The same case could be made for Adam Vinatieri, but for this line up, I’m going with Bailey. Both of those kickers were top 6 fantasy kickers this year.

DST

Panthers

The Panthers are the hottest defense of all the NFL right now. There is no way I’m passing on them at home against a backup quarterback who was awful in last two quarters of play against the 49ers last week. Too much pressure up front, stud linebackers and a secondary that is finally coming together. They are set it and forget it this week.

If you need some savings, to squeeze in another position, I do like the Colts DST at home this week against Andy Dalton who will likely be without A.J. Green. That can net you $600.
